Anthony Purchase

Vice President, Commercial Operations | Molson Coors Canada

Anthony Purchase built his career on a move that most would consider a step backward. After starting in a prestigious banking role defined by rigidity and "Sunday Scaries," Anthony traded the finance ledger for the beer aisle, taking an entry-level merchandising role at Molson Coors in 2005 just to feel energized by his work again. That decision sparked a 20-year journey from stacking cases to the C-Suite. Today, as Vice President of Commercial Operations, he leads with a philosophy grounded in "taking the mask off"—trading corporate perfectionism for authenticity, humor, and the belief that credentials mean nothing if you aren't willing to roll up your sleeves.

At the helm of a 239-year-old legacy, Anthony isn't looking for the smartest person in the room; he’s looking for the person who "wouldn't walk past the trash." He champions a culture where high performance meets deep family values, driving Molson Coors’ evolution from a beer giant to a total beverage company. For Anthony, leadership isn't about having the right answers—it's about building a reputation as the person who makes everyone else’s life easier, smarter, and a lot more fun.

DEFINING MOMENTS

2005

The Reset

Left Banking for Beer. He left a Financial Advisor role to become a Merchandiser in Halifax. The Lesson: Don't stay in a job that gives you the "Sunday Scaries." Prioritize energy over status.

2010

The Risk

The Road Less Traveled. Instead of taking the standard Marketing route, he moved to Calgary for a Business Intelligence role. The Lesson: Sometimes you need a lateral move to gain the unique skills (storytelling with data) that separate you from the pack.

2020

The Realization

Taking Off The Mask. Upon becoming a VP during a global crisis, he stopped trying to be the "perfect" executive and started leading with vulnerability. The Lesson: Authenticity is your strongest leadership asset.
